My name is Bryce Yates. I was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah. I grew up with the mountain as my backyard and love to be in the outdoors. I’ve worked from a young age mowing lawns for the family business and did this to pay my way through college until dental school. Mowing taught me the value of a job well done, the right way. To this day the smell of freshly cut grass is still one of my favorites.
I attended Utah State University for one year before leaving on a two year ecclesiastical mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney, Australia. It was while I was on my mission that I decided I wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. I have always loved working with my hands and wanted a profession where I could use my hands to help others. After my mission, I returned to Utah State to embark on my journey to become a dentist. As part of my pre-dental requirements, I shadowed several dentists and looked forward to learning the technical and artistic side of dentistry, as well as the human side of interacting with patients and being involved in the community. During this time I also pursued my wife, Leslie, another great idea I had on my mission. We were married in July of 2012. We have been married now for almost 7 years and have three beautiful children, James, Nathan and Abby. Being with my family is one of my favorite things to do. We enjoy popcorn and a good movie, being outdoors (especially if it is around water), and traveling, even if it is just to someplace nearby.
I graduated from Utah State University in May of 2015 with a bachelor degree in Nutrition Science. A few months later, my family and I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to begin dental school at Dalhousie University in Canada. Dalhousie’s Faculty of Dentistry has been around for over 100 years and is one of the highest ranked dental schools in Canada. We thoroughly enjoyed our time living in Canada and exploring the beautiful landscape and rich history of Nova Scotia. I graduated from Dalhousie in May of 2019 and was able to walk with my children to receive my Doctor of Dental Surgery. My experiences at Dalhousie have helped me to put my patients’ needs first and treat each with the highest standard of care. To ensure this, I am committed to continual learning and improvement. I am looking forward to the opportunity to associate with Dr. Jackson and feel honored to become a part of his team. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you, his valued patients.
